For centuries, Franciscan spirituality has brought Christians a fresh perspective on Christ with its simple and heartfelt approach. Now you can follow the teachings of St. Francis of Assisi in this special retreat experience with gifted Franciscan Br. Bill Short, O.F.M., as your guide.

In this series of 12 retreat sessions, you will have the opportunity to reflect on your own spiritual journey with insights from the writings of Francis and Clare of Assisi.

Francis shows us how to approach God as love, a reality that is based in the heart’s affections more than the mind’s ideas. The dynamic relationship of the Persons of the Holy Trinity provides the model for our lives, allowing us to develop our emotional intelligence as we grow in union with God.

Our humanity itself is modeled on Christ, and thus gives us a very good image of who God is. The limitations of our life, of time and space, and even of suffering and death, can connect us with God because of the Beloved Son Jesus.

Praise for Bill Short

“Bill Short brings a lifetime of scholarly work combined with a lifetime of applying the principles of the Franciscan Rule of Life to his daily existence. Thus, [his presentations are] shot through with the wit and wisdom.”
– Margaret Carney, OSF, President Emerita, St. Bonaventure University

“Bill Short is one of the most prolific and knowledgeable scholars of the entire Franciscan tradition as evidenced by his previous lecture series, articles, and books on the Franciscan movement. As those living in the Middle Ages would say, to listen to Bill is to sit at the feet of a Master.”
– Fr. Steven J. McMichael, OFM Conv., University of Saint Thomas

“Brother Bill Short has dedicated his Franciscan life to make accessible the rich spiritual resources of the early Franciscan tradition. Through his sharp translation skills, insight, and heartfelt humor, Francis of Assisi speaks to us again today.”
– J. A. Wayne Hellmann OFM Conv.

It was very well done and reminded me of the way Franciscans were before they were tainted by modernism.
