This delightful series will forever enrich your experience of the Lord’s Prayer. Down through history, many have looked upon the Lord’s Prayer as more than simply a way to pray. Tertullian, the second-century priest of Carthage, called it breviarium totius evangelii, “a summary of the entire Gospel.”
Now, this 12-lecture series walks you through each line of the Our Father. Your guide is the popular preacher, missionary, and radio host Father Albert Haase, whose distinctive and engaging style breathes new life into the words you recite so frequently.
Fr. Haase’s series will lead you to the realization that the Lord’s Prayer is not just a way to pray, but a way to live. As recorded in Luke 11:1, Jesus’ words offer us a concise guide to being Christian.
Brief but dense, the Lord’s Prayer is full of nuggets of wisdom that will indelibly increase your spirituality. Among the topics you’ll explore in depth are
Jesus’ vision of the Kingdom of God;
the centrality of peace, love, and justice;
the notion of God as a loving almsgiver;
the transformative power of the Eucharist; and
God’s gifts of mercy and forgiveness.
Every time you hear or recite the Lord’s Prayer after enjoying Fr. Haase’s series, you will be able to reflect deeply on the meaning of those familiar words. You will come to see it as Tertullian did so many centuries ago: a model for living virtuously that perfectly encapsulates Jesus’ example.
